Patient and Referral Information

Neurosurgery, or surgery of the nervous system, includes procedures that primarily involve the brain and spinal cord. Our neurosurgeons are known nationally and internationally for their expertise in treating various disorders of the nervous system. When you come to UAMS, you will receive the best possible treatment available today.

How to Become a Patient

Your physician may arrange an appointment with the Department of Neurosurgery if you have a clear surgical indication.

We try to schedule appointments within two to four weeks. We will contact you or your physician prior to your appointment if you need to bring specific medical information or records with you to the appointment. Your records of prior treatment may be useful in making a diagnosis or outlining a treatment plan.

International patients are welcome at the Department of Neurosurgery. We have special coordinators for international patients, Jo Smith, R.N., and Kelly Ballard, who will be happy to assist you. You may reach Jo Smith at (501) 526-6261 or by e-mail at smithnancyj@uams.edu
