Benjamin Elberson, M.D., Ph.D.


Education: He is originally from Texas. He attended Texas Tech University, where he completed an MD/PhD dual degree with research in molecular biophysics, specifically on the structure and function of ligand-gated ion channels.

Professional Interests:  He is interested in neurosurgical oncology and plans to work with Dr. Rodriguez in her research endeavors, though is working with Drs. Palys and Kazemi currently on their projects concerning resident operative skill development and cervical discectomy and fusion outcomes, respectively.

Hobbies: In his spare time, he enjoys fly-fishing on the Little Red River, tying flies at home to practice those microsurgical skills, cooking, and of course spending time with his family.

Dr. Elberson is a father to a two-year-old boy, Owen. His wife, Jill, has a master’s degree in English – poetry, but while he spends the majority of his time at UAMS, she is taking care of Owen.
